Making A Real Estate Purchase

Once you have found the right property, the purchase process itself has several stages. Knowing what to expect keeps things moving and reduces the chance of delays.

Making An Offer

Submit your offer through the agent in writing, stating your position clearly, for example whether you are a first-time buyer, chain-free, or already have a mortgage agreed in principle. A clean, well-supported offer is often accepted over a higher but less certain one.

Instructing A Solicitor And Surveyor

As soon as your offer is accepted, instruct a solicitor to handle conveyancing and book a survey. Acting quickly here keeps the transaction on track and gives you time to raise any issues that come up.

Exchange Of Contracts

Once searches are complete, your mortgage offer is issued and all queries are resolved, both parties sign contracts and a completion date is agreed. At this point the sale becomes legally binding, so make sure you are fully satisfied beforehand.

Completion Day

On completion day, funds are transferred and the keys are released. It is worth arranging removals in advance so you can move in as soon as the property is legally yours.

A real estate purchase involves many moving parts, but with organised professionals on your side, the process can move smoothly from offer to keys in hand.
